
In order to establish an authentic and real-life environment for our native and students to learn foreign languages, especially the English language, to enhance intercultural exchange and communication, and to promote the overall level of foreign studies, GDOU annually recruits and engages TEFL staff of excellence in teaching and research all over the world, especially from countries of English as an official language. There are approximately 25 positions for TEFL staff each year. Excellent candidates with an outstanding record in linguistic research, undergraduate teaching and supervision are sought. Expertise in college English teaching and research, general linguistics, spoken English, writing, British and American literature, ESP, Business English, or others is required. Candidates who can enhance our strengths in foreign language teaching, learning and research will be given preference. Experience in coordinating teaching and research programs and a broad working knowledge of relevant disciplines are desirable. The appointee will be required to provide academic and research leadership in their field of expertise and participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching. And applicants must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work in groups—teamwork spirit is highly desirable.

The appointee will be required to:
- Prepare and undertake lectures, tutorials, language lab instruction, web-based resources, multimedia teaching, English Corner activities, language training programs and student assessment, etc.
- Act as subject coordinator and assist in curriculum development
- Undertake research and optional administrative duties
- Supervise undergraduate students in their independent work on their baccalaureate thesis
- Prepare and conduct academic seminars and give cultural lectures, etc.

- Professors or PhD in related discipline or associate professors with a master’s degree and under the age of 40
- Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, especially in big group teaching
- Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of web-based learning and teaching
- Demonstrated experience in undergraduate supervision and training
- Demonstrated ability to attract competitive funding
- Experience in the development of teaching and research in relevant fields of study
- Excellent track record in scientific publication commensurate with level of appointment
- Excellent in interpersonal skill

- A broad knowledge of the field of study
- Experience in a problem-based teaching and learning environment

- Experience with the coordination and administration of subjects as well as general administrative skills

- Abide by the laws of the country and regulations of the governments and the University
- Be a native speaker of English (Preference will be given to those who can speak a little Chinese)
- Have an experience of over 2 years in related teaching
- Hold master’s degree or at least a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
- Be healthy and aged under 60

Appointment will be full time on an annual contract basis subject to a probationary period of one month during the first term of contract of employment. Each employment or contract term is at least one year; exceptions go to a six-month contract. The employment contract is signed on a yearly basis in both English and Chinese versions.

Commencing salary will be negotiated and determined according to qualifications, experience and skills of the employee. The monthly pre-tax salary ranges from RMB 4,000 to 8,000 yuan. Applicants must provide a resume covering a full, clear and systematic statement of qualifications, career, and the Selection Criteria and chief publications, a teaching and/or research profile, a complete Application for an International Staff Position Form (downloadable) , two reference letters sealed in individual envelope and enclosed with the names, telephone numbers and addresses of the referees, duplicate copies of diplomas, highest academic degree certificate, qualification title certificate and TEFL certificate (the original ones will be required to be shown to the recruiter in charge for validation), copies of passport and health certificate, and two passport photos. - After a careful evaluation of applicant and a serious validation of the documents obtained, a telephone interview will be arranged between the recruiter and the applicant.
- Once decision has been made on the engagement of an applicant, the applicant will be notified of the decision, negotiation about and determination of salary, benefits and other aspects concerned.

- The applicant send by express mail to FAO the completed application record and the contract whose Chinese Version could be left uncompleted but must be signed
- Once the Working Permit has been issued, FAO will send it to the applicant by express mail and the applicant gets ready to apply for the Z visa ( work visa) as indicated on the Permit.
- Once the work visa has been granted and a single-trip air ticket has been booked, the applicant will be requested to download the International Staff Entry on Duty Form and send it by express mail or email to FAO as soon as it is completed.
