With a distinctly non-traditional approach to graduate education, and using multi-disciplinary study and research, our philosophy is to craft individualized programs for students, enabling them to acquire new knowledge through strong mentoring and outstanding intellectual and physical resources.
Our collegial atmosphere connects graduate students closely with faculty and staff by providing an environment that stimulates the mind with active seminar and endowed lectureship programs, as well as renewing friendships with former students and colleagues.
The graduate programs are relatively small but flexible and highly personalized, giving every student the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors and to engage fully in important research projects as they develop their individual capabilities within a community of scholars. There are no formal divisions within the departments so as to provide students with the opportunity to create an appropriate curriculum for their specific interests and career plans. And collaborative projects among groups are common.
GDOU is well known for its research strengths in ocean sciences (aquiculture, mariculture, foodstuff technology in particular), agriculture (including mangrove study), engineering, navigation, economics, WTO, etc. There are 34 research institutes and three provincial institutions. The laboratories containing the classrooms and offices are enhanced by ready access to the sophisticated facilities of research.
GDOU appreciates your interest in our graduate programs. We encourage you to spend time exploring our site in the areas of your interest. You will find GDOU an exciting place to work as you develop as a professional.
