The College of Ocean and Meteorology is one of the key and advanced development colleges at Guangdong Ocean University, with a historical responsibility to promote the development of oceanography. The college has established distinctive features and advantages in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services in marine science and atmospheric science.

The college serves as the secretariat for the Guangdong Provincial Undergraduate Education Steering Committee for Marine Science Majors and the National Steering Committee for Atmospheric Science Education. It offers three undergraduate programs: Marine Science, Atmospheric Science, and Applied Meteorology. Marine Science is a priority discipline in Guangdong Province, classified as a first-class discipline with a doctoral and master's program, recognized as a Guangdong provincial high-level university key construction discipline, a featured specialty in Guangdong Province, and a nationally recognized first-class major. Atmospheric Science is a provincially advantageous major, a pilot reform major for comprehensive specialty improvement in Guangdong, and a provincial first-class major. In 2023, Marine Science was approved for a postdoctoral research station, marking a new height in the development of the college’s disciplines and majors!
