PhD in Atmospheric Physics, Joined Guangdong Ocean University in 2019 and worked over 20 years in the internationally renowned Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading in UK. Current he is a professor and PhD supervisor at the School of Ocean and Meteorology, Guangdong Ocean University.

The main research areas include changes in the energy budget balance of the Earth system, the water cycle, climate, extreme rainfall, mechanisms of tropical cyclone occurrence and development, climate forecasting, radar meteorology, optical properties of clouds, environmental data sharing, and scattering calculations of non-spherical particles. Published over 100 papers cited over 2400 times.

The data of the radiation energy flux at the top of the atmosphere, atmospheric energy divergence, and surface energy flux provided by his team are well-known in the research community and have been widely used for climate change research and climate model simulation evaluation. Among them, the radiation energy flux at the top of the atmosphere has been rated as high confidence by IPCC AR6. The research results on the underestimation of Atlantic ocean energy transfer by climate system models in 2022 have been widely reported by major media around the world.
