The college adheres to the principles of “Marine Mission, Practical Innovation, and Patriotism,” emphasizing interdisciplinary and regional characteristics to build a “3+3” talent cultivation system. It implements the “645” cultivation initiative and the “5+3” quality assurance measures, strengthening ideological guidance, academic cultivation, innovation drive, practical training, skill enhancement, and social service in six aspects. This aims to cultivate pioneering, innovative, and versatile talents in marine and atmospheric sciences with strong self-directed learning abilities.
In 2023, the college had 1,285 undergraduate students and over 110 graduate students. In the past three years, undergraduate students have received over 90 national and provincial awards and published more than 30 papers and patents, with high postgraduate admission rates, ranking at the top of the university. The college has also been recognized as an advanced research unit for three consecutive years. Graduate students have published over 90 papers, including more than 40 in SCI-indexed journals. The employment rate of graduates is excellent, with many securing positions in marine and atmospheric enterprises and research institutes, receiving widespread recognition and acceptance across industries and society.
